HABITS

We'll spend two weeks (six sessions) looking at what the latest brain science can teach us about making habits that really stick. You'll learn a foolproof method for breaking any bad habit.

You'll also learn how to use tools like Mini Habits, Elastic Habits, WOOP, The Elephant and the Rider, the Power of Momentum, and many more.

PRODUCTIVITY

We'll spend two weeks (six sessions) looking at how to enhance productivity, overcome procrastination and beat burnout by hacking the brain's motivation system.

You’ll learn how to master Self-Motivation, harness the Power of Pause, manage the Willpower Battery, and Dominate Distractions.

OVERCOMING FEAR

We'll spend two weeks (six sessions) learning what fear is from the perspective of neuroscience. You'll learn how to build fearless mental habits, and develop unshakeable confidence.

You’ll also learn how to conquer the Worry Loop, build Stress Resilience, and leverage the Power of Hope.

HAPPINESS

We'll spend two weeks (six sessions) looking at the science of positive emotions and how to harness their extraordinary power. You’ll discover why mindfulness is a superpower, and how to make it a habit.

You’ll also learn how to Find Your Flow, and Hardwire Happiness.


How it Works


The Brain Science Advantage
is a combination of on-demand sessions, live sessions,
exercises, and optional readings.

You'll join a cohort that meets at a scheduled time once per week.
All other coursework will be completed on your own time.

The course consists of four modules:
Habits, Productivity, Overcoming Fear, and Happiness

Each module takes two weeks to complete.
You should plan to devote a total of 5 hours per week to the course.

On-Demand Sessions

The Brain Science Advantage consists of 16 pre-recorded sessions, 75 minutes each, available on demand. In these sessions James Garrett takes you on a deep dive into what the latest scientific research shows about each of the four topics covered in the course (Habits, Productivity, Overcoming Fear, and Happiness).

The course content is 100% evidence-based, drawing on hundreds of books and thousands of scientific articles about the brain and behavior, but with a laser focus on practical application in your own life.

You will have access to all 16 sessions as soon as you purchase the course, and can watch them at your convenience. They're easy to digest and you can even watch or listen to them on-the-go. But these on-demand sessions are designed to work in tandem with the weekly live sessions, during which you'll discuss the science and its application in your life with a cohort of individuals who are learning together.

Exercises and Reflection Questions

After you watch each on-demand session, you'll be invited to put your new knowledge to work with exercises that walk you through specific tools and strategies for application.

This critical piece of the course allows you to experiment with how the science can change your own life, and gives you step-by-step guides for how to implement it with the specific challenges you're facing.

You'll also consider what questions you have, what insights you can share, and what obstacles you might encounter as you try to bring what you've learned into your life.

Live Sessions

After watching two on-demand sessions and completing your exercises and reflections, you’ll meet at a set time on Zoom each week with a cohort of individuals who are moving through the course together.

Each of the course's eight 90-minute live sessions is facilitated by James Garrett, during which course participants dive deeper into the week’s content, with a focus on how to apply specific tools and strategies in different situations.

Participants get the most out of these discussions when they’ve already watched that week's recorded sessions, tried the exercises, and are prepared with questions, personal scenarios, successes, and obstacles to share with the group.

Optional Curated Readings

If you want to know more about the research James presents, you can dive into a curated reading list each week. Here you’ll be pointed to the very most readable and accessible scientific books and resources out there, which flesh out the concepts in greater detail. We’ll even let you know which are the most valuable chapters to focus on so you can get to the most out of your reading in the shortest amount of time!

This part of the course is optional but is often something participants value most. It gives you a go-to list of resources you can reference any time and share with family and friends.

Frequently Asked Questions

You should plan to spend about 5 hours per week on the course. It’s about 4 hours of sessions (2 on-demand sessions, 75 minutes each, and one live session, 90 minutes) plus about 1 hour of exercises and reflections. But the amount of time you spend on the exercises and reflections is really up to you.

That’s no problem at all—we record each live session for this very purpose. If you have a conflict that week, you can easily make it up by watching the recording.

Yes! The Brain Science Advantage is the first step on your journey of applying brain science to your personal development goals. This course is the fastest way to master a wide array of science-based tools, which is why we strongly encourage you to take the course before working with a coach. Yes. You can access both the on-demand sessions and the live sessions (once they are recorded and uploaded) at any time.

We administer our courses through a software called Teachable. You will have a login that allows you to lifetime access to course materials.

No. The reading lists we provide are supplementary. The books we recommend are there as a resource for you to dig deeper into the science, whenever a topic is particularly interesting to you. 

We’ve also taken great pains to narrow down the readings to only the most essential chapters and pages. That way, you have all the latest neuroscience at your fingertips in an easy-to-digest format. 

Finally, there are usually 10 books that James has read for every 1 that he recommends. So rest assured that you’re getting the best of the best.
